US and EU are trying to impose more sanctions on Iran

Washington DC. The US and the European Union (EU) are trying to impose more sanctions on Iran. Sanctions on Iran are about to be increased after the air attack on Israel last weekend.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has said that the action will be taken in the coming days. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has also said that the group is working on the issue.

Israel asked its allies to ban Iran’s nuclear program. The sanctions imposed by the United Nations on Iran’s nuclear program expired in October. But some countries including the US, EU and the UK have added new restrictions while keeping the restrictions in place.

Iran launched its first direct attack on Israel on Saturday. In that attack, more than 300 drones and missiles were launched from Iran, Iraq, Syria and Yemen.

But Israel and its allies shot down most of the drones and missiles from the sky. In response to the air attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1, Iran launched an air attack on Israel on Saturday. So far, Israel has been aggressive only diplomatically.

Israel’s foreign minister has asked more than 30 countries to impose sanctions on Iran’s missile program. Iran’s main military, political and economic force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was also declared a terrorist organization.
